Former Directors and Accompanists

Dr. Euell Porter

 


Dr Porter
had been the Director of Choral Activities at Baylor University until his retirement. He organized the choir in 1983 for the advancement of choral music with an emphasis on "music by the masters" and continued until he retired again in May of 1994.

Bill McGraw


 

 



Mr. Bill McGraw
took over the choir in September of 1994 and continued directing until the fall of 1998. Mr. McGraw earned his Master in Church Music from Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Ft. Worth. Mr. McGraw retired after 40 years of church music directing.


Charles Rich

 

Mr. Charles Rich is the third director of the choir and started in the fall of 1998 to December 2012. Mr. Rich was a teaching fellow and earned his Master of Church Music degree from Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Ft. Worth. Mr. Rich was a church music director for 44 years before retiring in 1996. There have been a number of directors that have filled in during the years. They include Ed Wittner, Ken Howard, Dr. David Guess, Edd McCulloch, and Phillip Sitton.

Accompanists: There have been three accompanists for the choir. Ritch Alexander began in 1983 with Dr. Porter and continued until the fall of 1987. In the fall of 1987, Catherine Boyce became the accompanist for the choir and was playing until the fall of 1999. Anita Allen became the accompanist in the fall of 1999 to the current date. There have been many pianists who have filled in during the years. They include Marilyn Erickson, Jean Cummings, Jeni Calvary, Marilyn Whitaker and Janice Hill.
